Live, Love, Give!

This is my first entry to Teacher Julie’s meme.  Although it may be late, but too early for the next round.  I have a lot to talk on this topic, based on my personal experiences.

As women age, the risk of CANCER goes up.   I am not scared, but I do not want to miss seeing any future grandchildren, plural, that is.

My biggest fear is that it runs in our family.  My mama was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and she lost the battle after 2 years at the prime age of 49.  She followed 5 years after my papa had his stroke at 55.

At 21,  I was left with the huge responsibility of caring for my 3 younger sisters.  It may be sad, but  I took it as a big challenge.  These events made me a stronger person.

Whew, I had my bouts of health care issues, too.  Three months into my marriage, I was diagnosed of having “infantile uterus”:  no chance of every having children.  I proved my OB-GYN wrong.  I had Z one and half years later.  She is a blessing.

In ’89,  I had undergone the procedure  salpingo-oophorectomy, when Z was 5.    In 2005, I had a breast biopsy and the results were negative, it was just a calcification.  Two years ago, I had my gall bladder removed at the Good Samaritan Hospital.  I was in the care of the best nurses, caregivers, and an assistant surgeon, even in Dietary department, all Filipinos.  All the best!  It felt like I was at Silliman University Medical Center.

I don’t look back,  I enjoy life and take better care of myself.
