Are you an “Honest Abe”?

We always associate honesty withe the US 16th President, Abraham Lincoln.  So many inspirational stories written about him while tending a country store in Salem, Illinois.

Yesterday, while riding the Metro Red Line to work, two uniformed transit cops were randomly checking on our tickets.  Unfortunately, they found one without his fare, and was issued a citation.

Non-payment of $ 1.25 constitutes a violation of CA Penal Code 640 (b).  In short, a violation punishable by a fine not to exceed $250.00 and a community service not to exceed 48 hours, over a period not to exceed 30 days.

Is this harsh?  No, it pays to be an Honest Abe.
