I am not a movie buff. During my prime days, especially in the province, we do not get to see movies after its release. Sometimes, it takes up to six months before they are shown on the big screen.
What are your favorite romantic movies of all time?
SOMEWHERE IN TIME. When this movie was shown, I was pregnant then with Z. I told hubby, Jeff, that we should check it out. He was asking so many questions, and said that if it was a love story, he is not going. He falls asleep most of the time. Finally, I was able to convince him. Little did I know, that he was wide awake and was quiet the whole time. I was quite, too, holding back my tears. He did not want to leave the theater and would watch it again.
This is a romantic movie produced in 1980 starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, about an unforgettable time travel love story , about a love so strong, it can overcome the obstacle of Time itself. It is the story of a young playwright, Richard Collier played by Reeve, and is approached by an elderly woman, Elise McKenna, on the occasion of his first triumph in 1972 . All she said to him is “Come back to me” and leaves him with a watch that contains a picture of a ravishing young woman.
Now, almost 30 years since its release, it has become a classic, our favorite. I gave him the DVD and the CD of the soundtrack. I would watch it over and over even when shown on TV.

It was filmed on location at the Grand Hotel in MacKinac Island, Michigan.

I just bought the VCD copy of this movie and I got to watch it just last week… it was indeed very romantic and tragic, too. Up to this day it still haunts me…makes me think that if going back in time was just sort of a dream for Richard, how come his name was on the 1912 guest list and that the old Arthur recognized him when he checked in the hotel?
It’s my first time to join, too!

This is a movie one has to watch again to fully understand and internalize what it is all about. What I mean is, the movie’s theme doesn’t get lost after a second, even third or more viewing. More viewing makes it even more kilig!
Hubby can play the song in the piano
