Are you a patient person? Has your patience been tested a lot of times? What have you done about it?
Weekly Question is hosted by Teacher Julie
Our patience can be tested in different ways. I can relate mine through one of my hobbies, CROCHET. I first learned how to crochet in 6th grade in our art class with our Chinese teacher. Once in a while, I would do some projects for the home such as doilies, table cloth or curtains.
Years went by and I rekindled this hobby in 1992. I saw one of our office mates working on an afghan during lunch break. I was so intrigued and I started to ask questions. And I asked her if she could teach me.
Well, she handed me a print out. Little did I know, they call this a pattern. I never knew how to read a pattern, all I have learned is by visual and study a sample and crochet the way the sample looks like.
So, one day I bought all the tools and yarns, and started a project. I read each line and understand the terminology little by little, until I made a sigh of relief…I can read a pattern.
I like to perfect my work, so if I make a mistake, even if I am half way through, I would pull it part and start all over. To this day, I would still do the same thing, when I make a mistake.

In the end, the result is gratifying.
Remember my office mate who taught me how to read a pattern? She is now asking me to show her some stitches!

That is truly beautiful! I admire your patience and creativity. My mom also loves crocheting. Sadly I’ve never learned how to crochet properly. i guess I lack patience and the will to do so. I remember that I passed Work Ed (crochet project) because my mom finished my project for me. Ha ha!
