I am posting this early, because we are away celebrating my birthday, the 23rd of May, in Mammoth Lakes. We will be gone for 5 days. Of course, we tag along our laptops, and our external drive where we store our photos. Please enjoy my post, as it is a deviation but the theme is there.
Spring Fling Afghan Squares
Pink Color
I have chosen to show my crocheted afghan, in spring colors. Crochet is a hobby that has been so therapeutic for me, for so many years, before I knew what blogging meant. Now, blogging is my first love (very addictive, if anyone agrees), and crochet my second.
Old Rose Color
Purple, Burgundy
And yellows, too.
The finished product with the old rose and purple borders.
This is a free pattern that I received when I used to buy my yarns through Herschnerr’s. The stitches are very simple, namely: single, double, treble crochet, popcorn. I used whip stitch to join my squares. The colored yarns are left overs from different projects. I may have the pattern, but I have to look for it.
You asked, how long? Well it took me approximately 3 weeks to finish this project. How? Those days before the subway, one hour each way on the Commuter bus, and while watching my favorite TV shows at night.

That’s very nice Ebie. My daughter and I are going to learn knitting together. Once we’ll get used to it, I might give up blogging and concentrate on knitting just incase grandchildren will come along in a hurry and I want a dozen all at once! To make up the loses. hehe. What a lovely Afghan! My granddaughter has put in a request so please if you trip over the pattern, could I pretty please , have a copy? I’m holding my breath but there is no great urgency. Our winter is at hand and it would be a great project for the dan lightless hours. Blogging has rather taken over with me too.

Hi Ebie, I admire your diligence in crocheting a “blankie”. It is very beautiful in white with the spring flowers. A lovely handcrafted heirloom. I have a “blankie ” in work, knitting squares. Over summer it is to hot but now in winter I get the needles and wool out again; blogging takes quite a bit of time away from my handcrafts!
The yellow rose is very beautiful, this one must have a beautiful scent!

Hi Ebie, thank you for dropping by, me too love cloud formations, especially cumulas, they bring great thermals to my new gliding experience, love it. I love crochet too, been crocheting for a couple of years, maybe three. I have made two blankets, in process of making another one, one whole big granny sqaure, as many rounds will allow, using all my acrylic colors.. Love your afgan, the colors are grand and the white makes the whole so elegant, just beautiful with the features of the popcorn stitch.
