SWF: Day 5-I Believe I can Fly
Click the badge above for more views.
It is the end of our five day vacation. We left Mammoth Lakes on Tuesday at 7:30 in the morning. On our way, we stopped again and visited the Alabama Hills. Located at the base of the eastern Sierra Nevada mountain range next to the town of Lone Pine, on the way up to Whitney Portal Road.
It is the home of natural arches. There is a road named “Movie Rd” because it has been a venue of many westerns & cowboy movies, and a few new ones. A lot of television commercials & videos have been filmed here as well. To name a few, Yellow Sky (Gregory Peck), How the West was Won ; High Sierra (Humphrey Bogart) ; Maverick (James Garner and Mel Gibson); Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr); Tremors, etc.
Here’s an up coming video/photo shoot. What do you think? Should I hire a talent agency? (Giggles)
The first photo was taken by me and the second one is taken by my daughter Zee. She also gave me her permission to share with you her “experimental panoramic shots” of the Alabama Hills, below!

Is it hot out there? The wide open space and with no shade, seems hot to me.
Lovely photo Z has taken.

What amazing skies, set off by the rocky landscapes. A sense of huge distances (to the European eye!) really comes across from these shots.
