Long Beach is situated along the coast line with its scenic view, but with an urban charm and seaside community. It is just 20 miles from Downtown Los Angeles and altogether 35 miles from me.

Last Saturday, the weather was beautiful and we spent most of the afternoon in this quaint City and its neighboring cities.

Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA

Queen Mary is one of the largest passenger liners ever built. It made over 1,000 crossings.  It was given the name, “Grey Ghost” during World War II.   One historic journey to New York in May of 1943 included passenger Winston Churchill and 5,000 German prisoners of war.

There was less time and more to see. We are coming back next time. Since I am just 3 miles from the Universal City train station, we will take the Red Line and connect to the Long Beach Blue Line.  It costs only $5.00 for a whole day pass. The Passport Bus of the Long Beach Transit is FREE within downtown Long Beach.

More posts about Long Beach in the next issue.  Stay tuned!
