Mosaic Monday: Robert F Stockton

Update 06/09/09:  I have changed the format of this mosaic with Robert Stockton in the center.

Robert F. Stockton updated Mosaic

This is my first entry to this meme:  Mosaic Monday.  I was invited by Mary of Little Red House, when I visited Daryl’s blog of Out  & About in New York.  I did not have any clue, so here is my own contribution.

This is the mosaic tile that can be found at the Universal City, CA  train station.  Since it is hard to take photographs of the whole slab of  tiles, I had cropped the photos and uploaded them on Big Huge Labs per Mary’s suggestion.  I will do better next time.

The picture on the upper right hand is of Commodore Robert F. Stockton. He served as a naval commodore in the Gulf of Mexico and off the coast of California during the Mexican War (1846-48) and became commander of the Pacific fleet in 1846. His highhanded manner led to conflict with Californians who were resisting annexation by the United States.

This is amazing and the colors just pop off of my computer screen. I like the fact that you added a bit of history and the location of this. Thanks for sharing this with me today as it made me happy to view your work.
