Color Carnival: The Flower Fields
A colorful and wonderful meme hosted by Martha, every Friday. Just click the badge and join us and see some magical colors from around the world!
This photo was taken last May 8, 2009 at the Flower Fields in Carlsbad, near San Diego. These are a sea of ranunculus flowers in an array of different colors. It was also a gloomy day because of the smoke coming from the Santa Barbara fire the day before was blowing towards this direction.
This date is memorable for us because it was the day that we adopted our Twyla, an abused cat. In the background, across the San Diego freeway are beautiful houses.
The Flower Fields closed on May 11 and it will reopen again next Spring. The ranunculus plants are nearing the end of their life cycle, and they are preparing to start harvesting the bulbs soon.

Love that first photo, Ebie, just gorgeous!! I really like how the houses in the background are rather colorless — it puts more focus on the flowers. Great shot!

Ebie – I think that first photo is breathtaking! I like that the buildings are muted. It adds to the colorfulness of the flowers. You couldn’t have planned it better.
