Mosaic Monday: Brother Sun, Sister Moon
Mosaic Monday is hosted by Ms. Mary at the Little Red House, and is up by Sunday evening. Please join us and see beautiful mosaics from all over here!
This post is written in connection with the Summer Solstice, the first day of summer.
Sol + stice derives from a combination of Latin words meaning “sun” + “to stand still.” As the days lengthen, the sun rises higher and higher until it seems to stand still in the sky.
As a major celestial event, the Summer Solstice results in the longest day and the shortest night of the year. The Northern Hemisphere celebrates in June, but the people on the Southern half of the earth have their longest summer day in December.
Summer is here!

Those are truly awesome and colorful; I love the frogs…perfect way to bring in the first day of summer. What’s funny about the beginning of summer is that now the days are starting to get shorter…some how that doesn’t seem right! Thanks for all your visits to my blogs…I always enjoy reading your comments.

HI Ebie,
It might be summer for you in Los Angeles, but here in the Mts, it’s still going into the 30’s at night. Your mosaic is very summery, though! I’m interested in your corpse flower – have NEVER heard of such a thing!

Hi Barb, the corpse flower stinks like a rotten flesh, and being housed in the tropical area of the greenhouse, no air escape, it stunk more! (giggles).
We have gloomy skies in the mornings but it gets hot during the day. Today at 4:00 pm at the train station, it was in the 80’s. I would double my socks if it gets to the 30’s. Want to trade? Nah…you don’t want the LA smog! I would love your mountains, only in the summer.

Yes summer is here because we can’t see across the street for the smoke from the forest fires in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. Those buggers burn downt he jungles every year to “clear” the ground. All i can say is $#$#@!
