Something's Getting Bigger

We received an email notice on Wednesday from the Huntington Gardens, that the Titan Arum or Corpse Flower (see  my previous post here) that “The Corpse Flower began to open at 2 p.m. today, and with the flowering came the famous stink! Experts predict the bloom will take about 7 hours to open fully.”

Titan Arum in Bloom

We came on Friday, and we were too late. It has opened and bloomed, and is not going to open anymore.

    Hello Ebie!
Thank you for your kind words on my blog! I have missed a lot of great photos and storys at your blog the last week (love your little kitten!), but hopefully my recovery will speed up, as you said! :)

What a great and interesting flower you have here! You know, I have actually seen that one! In Oslo we have a Botanic garden, and in the tropical garden they have that flower! It is big – and it smells! It is quite an event when that happens! I have only seen it once – but did I have my camera with me? NOOOOOO!!!!

Great post for Today’s Flowers Ebie!
    Hugs from Valkyrien!

Ah! I’ve seen this before too…on the internet only, hehhhe….I’ve read about it how odd it was too with the stinky smell and so with the rafflesias which belongs to the world’s largest flowers. Great shot tita, and nice entry for today.
