Poinsettias, (Euphorbia pulcherrima) are closely associated as the Christmas Flower, named after the former US ambassador to Mexico, Dr. Joel R. Poinsett who introduced the flower to the United States. They are also native to southern Mexico and Central America.
Poinsettias come in a lot of different colors: cream, lemon, peach, pink and with white-and-gold-splashed leaves. They have names like Monet, Jingle Bells, Cortez burgundy, peppermint, winter rose, plum pudding and marble. There are also more than 100 varieties of poinsettias.
A few more days before the holidays. Although a lot are suffering from our economic recession, businesses are still luring customers with different promotions!
Here’s wishing you some Holiday Cheers!

Oh, i love the way you displayed your poinsettias, Ebie. I bought a couple from the garden store yesterday and kicking myself for not taking pictures of the different colors.
I love that “batik” with the splash of gold and white leaves. It boggles my mind how they do that…incredible!

Anyway, how you been? A okay after that car incident? Been thinking of you.
By the way, I love your Poinsettias. About six varieties of them I haven’t seen yet. The double petalled ones are very stunning!
Summertime is the time, gardeners hibernate due to the harsh season. So gloves, spades and rakes are put away! It’s time to be jolly! But I am not least in any concern. Walay agot! haha Ako ra mang usa.
Thanks for the visit Ebie. I miss your giggles.

Gorgeous mosaic and beautiful post!
I would love to have one of the cream poinsettias. I have two big pots of red, this year.
Granny had one red poinsettia, throughout my childhood. She kept it upstairs, between holidays, in an east facing window. It was an extra special part of our Christmas, for all those years.

I absolutely LOVE your poinsettia mosaic…..aren’t they the loveliest flower? We have the Paul Ecke Poinsettia Farm here in Carlsbad, right in our back yard. They supply about 70% of the US poinsettia market and about 50% worldwide. (I read that on their website) …LOL.
The only problem is that unless you are in the garden industry you can’t get in to visit the poinsettia farm….bummer.
