Saturday afternoon, my daughter and I hiked Mt. Hollywood with a group of friends. It was an easy to medium hike, and we walked at our own pace. One of the flowers we sighted, besides the very obvious and popular black-eyed daisy is this purple flower called canterbury bell.
Kingdom: Plantae
(unranked): Angiosperms
(unranked): Eudicots
(unranked): Asterids
Order: Asterales
Family: Campanulaceae
Genus: Campanula
Species: C. medium
Canterbury Bells is also known as the bell flower. It is an annual or biennial flowering plant with attractive bell shaped flowers with a flat base. It comes in different colors: blue, purple, mauve or white.
These flowers produce huge spikes of extremely long lasting blooms. Canterbury Bells are best suited grown in cool or warm zones.
In the world of floriography, canterbury bells represent gratitude. And I am giving my gratitude to my blogging friends and you for stopping at my blog, enjoy my photographs, leaving very gracious and inspirational comments.
Have a great weekend everyone, and enjoy the smell of spring!
Happy Vernal Equinox!

@ Carolyn, itchy feet for the great outdoors? Yay! Have a happy and safe trip to Yosemite. This would be a good time for the weather. We went there in December a few years ago and it was raining.
Take care!
