Lily is the birth flower for May. And since today is Mother’s Day, I dedicate this post to all the mothers and grandmothers of the world.

It can mean many things including purity, majesty, beauty, sweetness and humility. Wealth and pride are also symbolized in the Tiger Lily. The large showy flowers have six petals, often fragrant, and come in a range of colors ranging through whites, yellows and reds, or pinks, sometimes with other markings.

The lily is summer flowering. Most species are deciduous. Flowers are formed at the top of a single erect stem, with leaves being borne at intervals up the stem.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Friday everyone! I have been getting messages that writing a comment on my post was difficult. I really do not have an answer to this. Maybe because I changed my new theme? I have a wordpress format and not a blogger format. I have also updated the plug-ins that I have installed on my blog a few minutes ago, and I hope everything is in its place now.

UPDATE:  I have deleted the comment luv plug in, I think this is the one causing the problem.

This place is called the Windwolves Preserve located in the Bakersfield area, in California, along the HWY 166. We stopped on our way back from Carrizo Plain.  It was almost the end of the day, and there were very few visitors, so we had the photo opportunity to ourselves.

If we had more time, we could have explored further up to see the wildlife.  But we just content ourselves to this almost like a desert oasis.

It was a lovely day!

For two weeks we will cover TREES

Tabebuia
Scientific classification
Kingdom: Plantae
Division: Magnoliophyta
Class: Magnoliopsida
Order: Lamiales
Family: Bignoniaceae
Genus: Tabebuia

Tabebuia also called Trumpet tree is native to Central and South America and the West Indies. This tree serves  as ornamentals because of its showy flowers.  It is an absolutely spectacular deciduous small tree for spring-time color and small yards.

It has masses of  tubular flowers on a nearly leafless tree in the spring.  It also comes in different colors: yellow, pink, or purple.

The bark of several species can be used as medicine. The wood is used for furniture, decking, and other outdoor uses.

This shot was taken while I was hiking at Point Dume to get to the other side for the tide pools.  Facing West at 4 p.m.  is where I was positioned.

Coming back to where we parked our car, little did I know that I was almost at the same spot at 6 p.m.  What a coincidence.  The skies have turned darker as the sun was beginning to set.

This was taken a few weeks ago, while the wildflowers were still in abundance.  Most probably, by now, they have withered.

Enjoy your weekend, as I look forward to another adventure in photography.  I have a treat for Mother’s Day, and Zee is taking me to night photography.  Yay! I am a newbie here, so I hope to share next week, night lights in Los Angeles!

Litratong Pinoy: Bulaklak

Tulip comes from the Arabic word “turban”.  It is named for its shape and its Ottoman Turkish origin.   Tulips grow well in wet and cooler climates.  Between 1634 and 1637,  there was speculation in Holland.  The price of a single prized bulb of tulips was  higher than the cost of an Amsterdam townhouse.

When tulips bloom,we know that Spring has arrived.
