The header shot is a panoramic view of this goldfields blooming along the way to Anza Borrego. We loved it and the cows love it too! Take a peek and click it to see a larger version.
How did the Anza Borrego got its name, we ask? Anza, after Juan Baustista de Anza, an 18th century Spanish explorer and Borrego from the Spanish word meaning Bighorn sheep. It is a three hour drive from Los Angeles.

This shot shows the ocotillo, the cholla, desert sunflowers and some barrel cacti. We were lucky to find these flowers so I can share them with you. I did some research, and I hope the names are correctly identified with the flowers. Remember, these wildflowers are short lived, it gets so hot in the desert in the summertime.
