Valley of Fire: Beehives

I will be off from blogging and hiking. Due to some unavoidable circumstance, I fell and hurt my left knee, and was advised by the doctor to rest. But I would like to share my photos of one area of the Valley of Fire in Overton, NV (near the Las Vegas area) – the beehives rock formations.

Beehives (text copied from the sign board)

Once part of a sand deposit that
covered a vast area, these rocks
have been subjected to a relentless
attack by harsh winds, rain, heat and
cold, creating the many unusual
formations that make up the Valley of Fire.

But this does not mean that my camera would be resting too. Will share some photos from my adventures later.

Valley of Fire is Nevada’s oldest state park dedicated in 1935. Its name is derived from red sandstone formations, from great shifting sand dunes some 150 million years ago, during the age of dinosaurs.

One of the stop of this scenic route is the Rainbow Vista where you enjoy a great panoramic view of the colored rocks.

Spectacular wild flower blooms along the way. See them in both directions and different angles.

The weather was cooperating with our trip, it was a cool and balmy 68° with a bit of cloud and sun, perfect photo opportunity.
