Ozothamnus is a genus of about 53 species, native to New South Wales and Queensland in Australia. Other common names for this species include White Dogwood, Pill Flower and Sago Bush.
Simply translated, it is called Pink Rice Flower.

(Source) It is usually a small, erect and open shrub to about 1.5 metres high but is sometimes larger. The leaves are small, linear in shape to about 15 mm long.

The small flowers occur in clusters of 20 to 100 at the ends of the branches and are usually white but forms in varying shades of pink are also known.

It’s beautiful Ebie, is it also frequented by butterflies. I want to be naughty a bit, though i know the connotation of Greek, but it really is Latin, haha! Genus’ first letter is always cap and species or its surname is small cap. I don’t know what is the nationality of Darwin but Carl Von Linnaeus is Swede, not Latin.

No fair! I’m so anxious to see color (flowers) right now I am chomping at the bit. Those little pink lovelies remind me of pink pussy toes that we have here.

Lovely shots of these wonderful Australian flowers, Ebie.
Yes the binomial name is a latinised Greek. In Greek, the “Ozo” part means “Smell”, “thamnus” means “bush”, and in the specific name “diosmi” means smelling like Zeus (the Greek god, who like all gods smelt divine!) and the “folius” part is Latin and means “leaves”, so taking the whole:
“A nice smelling bush with leaves that smell divine!”
