An Early Morning Hike

Rise and shine! What a great way to start of the day!

I arrived 45 minutes early for our hike at Solstice Canyon. The sunrise was beautiful and the sound of the little waves lapping was inviting.

I walked to the top on a looped road to see the Pacific Coast.

We started at 8:45 with the skies and clouds above us playing their usual harmony. A short 2.1 mile round trip, it was an easy hike, with little or no elevation at all.

Along the way, we saw some wildflowers, and I am really looking forward to Spring when they are in great abundance.

Bermuda Buttercup

Bush sunflower, slender sunflower and the last maybe a rock rose (not sure)

Cliff Aster

We hear some babbling sounds from Solstice Creek, and it was music to my ear.

What lies ahead is another story!

Enjoy!

The  Full Wolf Moon happened on January  9, 2:30 a.m. EST

Source:  Amid the cold and deep snows of mid-winter, the wolf packs howled hungrily outside Indian villages. January’s full moon was also known as the Old Moon or the Moon after Yule.

It was almost full moon, photos taken two days earlier, on January 7, 2012 at Carpinteria State Beach, in the Santa Barbara County, CA.

Sand and Sea

Summer is gone and I am one month late in posting these photos taken at the Belmont Shores (Long Beach area) on the occasion of the Sand Sculpture Festival.

It was a steaming hot weather that day in August, when kids and old alike participated. It was also Long Beach’s 100 Centennial Celebration.
