Litratong Pinoy: Palengke

Litratong Pinoy

Translation at the bottom of the post.

Mabuhay!

Halina’t sumali sa Litratong Pinoy!
======================================================================

Good day, my fellow photographers (photobloggers).  Today’s theme for LP is MARKET.  There is a saying that in every corner of the world, there are Filipinos.  So true especially in the State of California.  Although I cannot always go on vacation to my native country, I do not yearn for our Filipino products, especially vegetables, because they are available at many local Filipino stores.  You will never ran out of ingredients for Filipino dishes.

Warning: This is not a paid advertisement

The first photo was taken last Sunday, in one of the many Filipino markets which is clean and is in close proximity to where we live.  When you run short of time to cook, there are available food ”to go” and desserts, too.

The second photo has the backdrop of   Bahay Kubo (Native Nipa Hut) , with photos showing (from top to bottom) bitter gourd, bananas, tomatoes, eggplant and “upo” squash.

The third photo is a collection of different Philippine Products that is stored in my pantry.  Let us patronize our own! (Waving the Philippine Flag)

WS: A Taste of Home

How many of us feels homesick once we are transplanted to a different country? Long for our native delicacies or even just say, I should have done this or that?

Filipino Stores Billboard

Looks familiar?

Filipino Stores, Resto, Grocery

Sometimes, I say we are lucky or just spoiled to be in my neck of the woods, California, either  Northern and Southern.
In my previous post, I featured some Filipino establishments where you could say, oh, its just like my hometown. Now, in another part of Van Nuys, CA, I can present a taste of home.

SeaFood City Supermarket

I do not have to travel hundreds of miles, just 7 miles, if I feel like cooking cassava (yucca) pudding, my all time favorite dessert. This is just a one-stop-shopping-and-dining.

I hope you had a nice weekend everyone!
