I am glad I did not trip along the hiking trails. The clouds were just so beautiful early in the morning.

An Early Morning Hike

Rise and shine! What a great way to start of the day!

I arrived 45 minutes early for our hike at Solstice Canyon. The sunrise was beautiful and the sound of the little waves lapping was inviting.

I walked to the top on a looped road to see the Pacific Coast.

We started at 8:45 with the skies and clouds above us playing their usual harmony. A short 2.1 mile round trip, it was an easy hike, with little or no elevation at all.

Along the way, we saw some wildflowers, and I am really looking forward to Spring when they are in great abundance.

Bermuda Buttercup

Bush sunflower, slender sunflower and the last maybe a rock rose (not sure)

Cliff Aster

We hear some babbling sounds from Solstice Creek, and it was music to my ear.

What lies ahead is another story!

Enjoy!

Hiking on a Sore Leg

Life has its twists and turns, one day you are OK, and another, NOT. However, this is not a deterrent of my quest to be at the Sandstone Peak. There are also my  limitations. Therefore, after hiking only for up to 3 quarters of a mile, I know I have to make a u-turn.

Sandstone Peak is the highpoint in the Santa Monica Mountains of Southern California. It is also known as Mount Allen, a name that was given and used mainly by the Boy Scouts. During the 1960s, in an attempt to honor Circle X benefactor Herbert Allen, the Scouts petitioned the United States Department of the Interior to rename Sandstone Peak.

On the way back, I amused myself with whatever I see.

While waiting for the rest of the group, I was busy birding

The remnants of summer’s wildflowers

I say to myself, be well and enjoy life!
