Cholla Garden

Welcome February! We have a sunny forecast this weekend in the mid 70′s. Spring is almost here, and the wildflowers are slowly starting to bloom in some areas.

Just in time to catch the last light of the sun.

The desert, too will be filled with cacti blooms. Cholla cactus is the general name for a group of cactus with elongate, cylindrical, branching stems.

Alabama Hills Arch Trail

There are hundreds of natural arches in Alabama Hills, in Lone Pine, California.

We drove around the whole area, even to the fault line and not a soul was there, except us. A little bit scared, we still snap some photos but did not get off our vehicle. Finally, when we saw a familiar road, Whitney Portal Road, ah…we were on tract. Time to head home. With this post, I end my Eastern Sierras Adventure, spring adventure that is.
And we are coming back, in the Fall, to visit other areas that we have not explored. I hope I had entertained you with my scenic drive.

Thanks to the My World team, Klaus, Sandy, Ivar, Wren, Louise and Fishing Guy for making this a world wide event. Click the badge above and join us!

Day 1 of our 5-day trip to the Eastern Sierras, that includes Mammoth Lakes, Mono Lake, Bodie, Bishop, Lone Pine and countless of SURPRISES.  My assistant cum daughter Zee has carefully planned the details.

Day 2 in the afternoon,  took us to Mono Lake, where you can see the “tufas” or limestone towers.  These are mineral structures created when fresh water springs bubble up and mix with alkaline waters of the lake.  It is also a haven of birds, seagulls and millions of other migrating birds.

The model is posing behind the tufas, the cover of Westways (AutoClub Magazine) for their June, 2009 issue that she received on Friday.   It is also her submission to Westways’ PICTURE THIS.
“Take your Westways on vacation with you and have yourself photographed with it. Send the photo to westways@aaa-calif.com, and we might run it in an upcoming issue”.

Also, the model is wearing a pajama set that she got from Walmart, 100% cotton, very wearable for the summer-like weather. Giggles!

So, did she pass the screen test?
