Did I tell you that I did hike 3 parks during the Thanksgiving weekend? Yes, after the Rocky Oaks Park (see my previous post below), I did Paramount Ranch. These parks are within the same area.

Paramount Ranch is the set where they filmed The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Guns at the OK Corral, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, to mention a few.

When I left my house that morning it was 46 degrees and in the middle of the day, it  rose up to 84 degrees!  While my fellow hikers went to the restaurant to eat, I proceeded to Paramount Ranch.  The sky was blue and not of a bit of a cloud to cover the view.

See the heart shaped branch?

Peter Strauss Ranch, my last stop.

Actor Peter Strauss was deeply moved by the area’s natural beauty while filming the mini-series “Rich Man, Poor Man” at Malibou Lake in 1976. He purchased the property and restored the site to its original splendor, living here until 1983. Due to his sensitivity and concern for the natural environment, Strauss sold the ranch to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy. The National Park Service purchased the ranch in 1987 as part of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, dedicated to the preservation of our natural and cultural history. (Source)

Southern California can still offer a good leaf-peeking scenery.  Although these leaves may have been blown away from last night’s strong gust of wind.

We will be doing another hike this weekend and hopeful to climb up to the top of Sandstone Peak in the Santa Monica Mountains.  Have a great weekend everyone!

Dedicated in 1927, this lavish facility was originally used for the staging of plays and later served as a motion picture theater. The architectural style is Spanish, but with Mexican and Indian influences apparent in the decor. The facade, designed to resemble the San Antonio de Padua mission in Monterey County, is the most identifiable aspect of the building and can be seen for miles.

This photo was taken last July, when the Mission Playhouse was open  for photography. Our photography group was invited and I was one of those selected.

I have been off-line for a week, schedule was hectic, with guests from the Phillippines, including the former Finance Minister. Now the household is back to normalcy. We have a scheduled hike this weekend, so I will be sharing some fresh photos.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Trees and Leaves

Sometimes the blues and green with a touch of orange make it so gratifying.
