Remember the song?
Yes, the famed London Bridge built in 1831 was really “falling down” sinking into the river Thames. It could not handle the increasing traffic. It is now in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. It was purchased by Robert P. McCulloch, Sr. from the City of London on April 18, 1968. The bid was $2,460,000.00.

The 10,276 pieces of granite weighing 22 million pounds, were shipped from Panama Canal to Long Beach, California. It was then hauled by truck to its final destination.

It took 3 years to rebuild the bridge, brick by brick, and was finished in 1971. It is 952 feet long as compared to its original of 1005 feet.

We walked on top of the bridge and checked put the detail of the lamp post.

Now, that’s a little bit of history. Likewise, the photo is also a history, taken during our CA-NV-AZ sight seeing during Christmas of 2005, using a hybrid camera NIKON Coolpix 8700. We have not visited the place again.
